Lakelife's Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board

Even though it’s cold and dreary outside, there are still fun ways to enjoy life on the lake. The idea of warming up around a fire pit and enjoying a hot drink with friends inspired the Lakelife team to make the perfect hot chocolate charcuterie board. With a variety of ingredients and easy enough for you to make at home, this board provides several tasty combinations to satisfy all your cravings.

The key to a great charcuterie board is variety and presentation. You want your board to look full with no empty spaces, and when choosing ingredients, you want a variety of colors, textures and sizes.

Always look for ways to make your board unique. We decided to dye the whip cream blue to represent the lake and to add a pop of color.

The combinations with this board are endless - If you want a classic hot chocolate, place the dark chocolate and white chocolate morsels in your cup with your favorite hot chocolate powder. Pour in the hot milk or water, whichever your prefer. Use a pretzel stick to stir the ingredients together and make sure everything is melted. Then top your cup off with blue whip cream and marshmallows.

For coffee lovers, add two scoops of instant coffee to the cup and use biscotti or the crème-filled wafers to stir everything together. Add a scoop of whip cream, and sprinkle some crushed peppermint on top for the perfect peppermint mocha.

If you like things spicy, add a spoon full of ground cayenne pepper and cinnamon to create the perfect sweet and spicy combination.

The apple chips, cinnamon sticks and caramels make a great apple spiced hot chocolate. Drop the caramel in first, with the hot milk or water, to make sure it melts. Place an apple chip on the rim of the cup.

Honestly, there are no limits when it comes to charcuterie boards, but follow these helpful tips, and your board will be a huge success. Choose your ingredients intentionally, think about your guests, consider the type of event or party the board will be at and always have fun making it.
